🏁 First Run in the Radical SR8 at Croft Circuit

Yellow and blue car on track

Croft isn't the widest or flashiest circuit in the country, but that’s exactly why it's perfect for a car like the SR8. The mix of high-speed straights and tight, flowing technical sections gave the car a chance to show just how brutally efficient it really is. No power steering, no fancy driver aids — just raw, mechanical grip and serious aero.

First impressions? It’s a physical car. Every input matters, and it demands focus from the second you release the clutch. The acceleration is savage, and the downforce starts to come alive properly once you’re over 80–90 mph. Through Sunny In and Sunny Out, the SR8 just glued itself to the track in a way I’ve never experienced before.

I was cautious through the first few laps — feeling out the brakes, warming the tyres, and trying not to overdrive it. But once I started leaning on it, the confidence it gives you is insane. The way it handles direction changes at speed is razor sharp. Brake late, turn in hard, commit — and it just sticks.

There's still loads to learn — and I’ve barely scratched the surface of what the car is capable of — but as far as first runs go, this was unforgettable.

Looking forward to the next session already. And next time, I might even try to find the limit…
